Nina and Shaun are a lighthearted, fun couple with the kind of beautiful young love that’s totally infectious. You can just feel how happy they make each other. It was truly such a privilege to capture their Calgary winter wedding at The Lake House, a venue that set the perfect cozy, romantic backdrop for their day.
Their celebration took place at The Lake House in Calgary, surrounded by their closest friends and family. Earlier in the day, the festivities began at The Dorian Hotel downtown, which set the perfect vibe for a relaxed morning of getting ready. Nina and Shaun chose to do their first look and portraits at the rooftop restaurant, and it couldn’t have been more perfect.
Since it was a March wedding, the goal was to capture snowy, wintery vibes, but without actually having to be in the snow. March is always a gamble in Calgary: either snow or dead grass. But we lucked out because real snowflakes were falling, and we were able to sneak out onto the patio and catch that magic from above the city skyline. It was exactly what we’d hoped for: cozy, snowy feels without the freezing temps or muddy mess.
After portraits, we headed to The Lake House for the rest of the celebration, which is by far one of my favourite indoor wedding venues in Calgary. Nina and Shaun’s vows had everyone (including me!) tearing up. The evening flowed into heartfelt speeches, delicious food (seriously, The Lake House never misses), and so much laughter.
One of the things I truly appreciate about this venue is the amazing staff. They even make sure vendors like me have snacks and water during those busy cocktail hours. It’s a small gesture that makes a big difference when you’re running around all day.
To wrap up the night, Nina and Shaun shared a sweet cake-cutting moment, followed by their first dance and a packed dance floor. It was the perfect ending to a day filled with genuine emotion, laughter, and so many meaningful moments.
